The Lizard Peninsula boasts an extraordinary variety of beaches, coves and harbours, rich in history, natural beauty and wildlife.

And being on a Peninsula you are simply spoilt for choice. Busy beaches with good facilities abound, but you don’t have to go far to find solitude and quiet. A stroll around the Helford River provides opportunities for quiet discovery, but wherever you are the constant ebb and flow of the tide means that no two days are ever quite the same.

Sand, sun, surf, cliffs, crabs and caves - Cornwall's coast provides a variety of beach environments from secluded coves to wide open expanses of golden sand. With more than 200 miles of coastline, Cornwall has no shortage of beaches. Wherever you are in Cornwall, there's a beach not very far away.

The sea water may be cold at times for the occasional swimmer. An ideal solution for keeping warmer and making the most of your beach visits is to buy or hire a beach wetsuit, either full size or three quarter length. Wet suits are available at Atlantic Forge, a beachware and souvenior shop in Mullion village.
